Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

You have your emergency kit and emergency plan and know your evacuation route. Ready to take your emergency preparedness to the next level? Consider joining the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which assists neighbors and first responders during an emergency. Over a four-week period, Richland County will hold CERT training classes focused on medical operations, firefighting awareness, light search and rescue, and disaster preparedness. Through hands-on practice and exercises, CERT volunteers learn how to prepare for, respond to and recover from local emergencies. The CERT classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 3-29. To register or for more information, email Sharon Long, Richland County CERT program manager, at long.sharon@richlandcountysc.gov. You must attend all classes to receive the CERT training. Deadline to register is Thursday, Sept. 26.
