ONLINE Keys to Financial Success High School Personal Finance Teacher Training

Professional development for high school teachers offering the “Keys to Financial Success” personal finance curriculum. Whether teaching the course for this first time next year or already leading Keys for some time, all participants will be introduced to seven new lessons (related to setting and funding goals, lessons on college planning and financing) in addition to receiving training in 12 fully-revised existing lessons.

This online professional development program acquaints high school educators with the Keys to Financial Success personal finance curriculum. Over 31 days, participants will work at their own pace through interactive and video modules that acquaint them with the Keys curriculum. All participants will attend four one-hour sessions with our staff to be held July 8, July 15, July 22, and July 29.

Composed of 50 lessons designed to help educators teach high school students about personal finance using active and collaborative learning and newly revised in spring 2020, Keys to Financial Success is a comprehensive plan for a semester or yearlong personal finance course. In Keys to Financial Success, students learn the knowledge, skills, and processes required to make sound financial decisions and manage their own personal finances. The lessons engage students in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making.

The program, taught by Federal Reserve economic education specialists and staff from the University of Delaware Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, provides the essential professional development and complete classroom resources for teaching personal finance using the Keys model.

The content covered in this program can be used to meet state and national standards in personal finance, economics, social studies, family and consumer sciences, and business education, as well as the Common Core State Standards. Participants will receive 30.00 hours of professional development credit (Act 48 in Pennsylvania) and all curriculum resources.

The registration fee is nonrefundable after the registration deadline.
