A Charrette is a combination of a community meeting and workshop to make design decisions. What is a Green Street? A green street is a stormwater management approach that incorporates vegetation (perennials, shrubs, trees), soil, and engineered systems (e.g., permeable pavements, infiltration beds, etc.) to slow, filter, and cleanse stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces ( roofs, parking lots, streets, sidewalks, etc.) and reduce flooding. Green streets are designed to capture rainwater at its source, or as close to where rain falls as possible. Green streets can also help with traffic safety and make a street more walkable and bikeable. Why should I attend? Participants will learn about green streets and help make design decisions in Seaford, Delaware. Attendees will help review initial designs to ensure this project is a success! Input is valued from all community members!
